I’m really lost with the cliché you can lead a horse to water but you can’t expect it to drink. There has to be more to that saying but I obviously am too lazy to Google search. Under what circumstances am I leading horses around to beds or troughs of water? Did I lose a coin toss? Does it mean that you can control the direction a giant powerful beast can face but you do not determine what the beast chooses to do? Because I think I can make a horse drink. I think I stick some kind of mechanical straw down its throat and force it to drink. I’m not sure if that was the point of the saying. I mean I think I get it on the surface, ultimately the shit means people are going to do whatever the hell they want to do no matter what you say, but what does that have to do with horses? I mean wouldn’t the saying have been just as effective if you said, a chipmunk?
