Dancing.

I want to do a fox trot and you, want to waltz

with me

one two three, dip one two

and I don’t have on the right shoes but I kick them off in hopes of a salsa in our future

and all you can say is just follow me girl.

And I do, and I want to and I sway and I move and I dip and I kick in time

one two three, dip one two

Always in time in time in time to the beat to your heart

and we swoon and sweat and turn

And we’re dancing

And all I want to do is to please you

one two three, dip one two

to do the steps to follow the lead

just follow me girl-

and you test me

Can she Tango?

Can she Bandari?

I can.

one two three, dip one two

I can even chicken dance if chicken dancing is what you are into because all I want

is to be

Always in time in time in time to the beat to your heart

No new partners

one two three, dip one two

No unchartered territories

watch my eyes not my feet

just follow me girl…

and I am mellow in your arms

so I can Conga and I can Hokey Pokey

and if it turns you on

then I am

And I do, and I want to and I sway and I move and I dip and I kick in time

one two three, dip one two

And when he wants to waltz, I lean back

I always lean back

just follow me girl,

into his support because even though I want to hand jive…

I am his….

I like dancing and enjoying life. I like the positive and hopeful feel of the poem. People who dance and know laughter can know happiness. I like the complete poem. Your words took me back to Texas and the memory of the dancing. Thank you for the excellent poetry
