We flew sometimes.
But we would always crash into a mountain
And as soon as our wings healed
We were at it again
Trying to soar
Together but shadows, my shadows, your shadows
And rain
And wind
Always seemed to knock us to the ground
I blamed you
You blamed me
Everything is harder with scars
And we would disengage sometimes
You would perfect the float
And I would swan dive with the best
Yet across the sky you would call to me
Irresistibly
We sat on stars sometimes.
But we would always get trapped in a comet’s tail
And as soon as the burns flaked off
We were at it again
Trying to glide
Together but gravity, your gravity, my gravity
And the stratosphere
And black holes
Always seemed to throw us back to earth
I hated you
You hated me
Everything is harder with scars
And we would leave on solo missions
You would jump to Jupiter
And I would wait on Mars
Yet across the galaxy I would call to you
Beckoning
And here we are
My epidermis is brand new
You have new skin now too
Sometimes can be all the time
Let’s fly
If we promise to do one thing
I forgive you
You forgive me
Our universe is waiting
