Excerpt from Pixie’s Last Summer

The tongue ring

Well journal,
I can barely talk.
Last night I finally did it.
I went and got my short ass tongue pierced. I’m on the bus on the way
back home from getting groceries. I’m writing because I want these fucking
weirdos on here to think I’m too busy to talk to. I’m trying to keep from
slobbering so that they don’t think that I am one of them.
And there was so much blood last night! Crystala got a new tattoo while
we were there. My whole entire family, alive or dead, is going to freak out
because of this. We had to sign a waiver that says its not the OuchFactory’s
fault if people discriminate against me and Mena.
Mena is another one of my Omicron Omega Alpha Inc. Sorority sisters.
When I was Dean of Pledges she was in my first class. Her other name is
Heather Halo. She is also a 4 so even though she wasn’t the anchor, we have
a special bond because of that. She is actually a pretty cool chick and we are
both from the same home town. Sometimes I like hanging out with her
better than Crystala even, I hate to admit. Mena is way more laid back. She
got a tounge ring with me too.
She’s like a loyal puppy. Whatever I do, she does.
I used to hate that shit when my actual blood sisters did that when we
were kids but there is something cool about having an adult fan. She follows
me and Marie around all the time and depending on which of us she
is with, that is who she acts like. Marie is a crazy drunk so then Mena is a
crazy drunk. I’m out getting my flirty flirty on with the LaCrosse team and
there’s Mena telling some white dude he’s got nice breath.
Its cute.
I hope this tongue ring doesn’t murder my singing voice! My grandmother
is going to kill me, I can already feel it. And my tongue is super
swollen.
I talked to Kane last night too.
I told him what I did to my tongue. He was like ok, so what, you are not
my girl.

But then I told him when it heals, I want to try it on him. Oh yeah, he
was all down for that! He said he wanted to be first on my list of people I
use it on but that still doesn’t mean he likes the idea. He asked me why I got
it and I told him because I think it’s sexy. He asked me if my next project
was piercing my clitoral hood cause people think that is sexy too.
Why would he think of that? Did he want me to do that? Didn’t matter,
I was like, fuck you, hell no.
But whats sick, whats really sick is if he had said, you should do that… I
might have considered it.
Thankfully he did not call my bluff.
Then I said, I do know what my next project is if he was interested in
knowing.
He said what?
And I said, you.
He went silent like the phone was dead. This is what he does. He will
just avoid anything I say that has anything to do with a relationship even if
its a half hearted pseudo joke. It’s annoying.
I almost wish he would just tell me to go to hell instead of being my
friend. He has to know the more we talk the more infatuated with having
him I become. We’re never going to be able to have a normal conversation
where at some point I don’t bring up the fact that he is missing out on the
best thing that ever happened to him by not being with me. I keep doing it
over and over like an idiot and keep getting the same silent treatment. You
would think that I would stop but, no.
That’s too much like right.
Now that I think about it, I can’t let Marie have more body art and
piercings than I do! She has a tattoo on her boob and a brand on her hip. I
have a brand on my boob so I guess I’m going to have to get tatted on my
hip, so we can match.
