Is the man
Surly and matter of fact

But deep down, where no one can see
There’s softness underneath
That he will not show!

He stands with chin up
the man does; He simply is

Above everything

But deep down, way down
Under neckties and cuff links
Is a lonely yet loving soul
A modern Javert

A walking talking encyclopedia

of the most inane factoids

Abrasively irritating

He has no mood choices

Only haughty and rude
But deep deep inside, where no one goes

There’s generosity underneath
That he will not share!
Looking down his nose
Watch the man

Correcting every slight mistake

Taking superiority complex pills

and only communicating

in sarcastic overtones

But deep down, where no one can see

Is a labyrinth of insecurity

abandonment and shame

carved into his psyche and

draining life fluid from his once broken heart

 And I just want to help him back

to a place he has never been
