The viruses!
One, ravaging bodies the other, spirits!
Susceptibility to violation and destruction by both
is called and treated as a fault of the afflicted
alone
and not
the symptoms of an oppressive onslaught
of proximity to diseases of the physical and mental
for which we are condemned
only when we pretend
that neither actually exists!
Oh, the viruses! The viruses will win
not because we eradicate either type of them
but because we want to adapt to them instead of starving them
out
and become complicit
in emotional and biological deaths
considered and prepackaged as our only fucking choices!
