The Day I found out Dave Died

The sun rose.
Some woman cried.
The wind was crisp.
The government had kids in cages.
We all chose to keep breathing.
The sun shone.
Some woman sweat.
The wind felt brisk.
The world was engulfed in a pandemic.
We breathed recklessly.
The sun felt close.
Some woman yawned.
The wind relaxed.
Rights to everything were being challenged.
We never held our breath.
The sun felt good.
Some woman folded clothes.
The wind cooled.
People was still counting time by when Jesus lived.
We kept right on breathing.
The sun illuminated and I
caught my breath and thought
My goal in life has changed-
I no longer simply want to outlive my father.
I now want to live longer than Dave did.
