We repeat the loud parts and forget silence over and over
Simultaneously wishing on stock options and four-leaf clovers
It stops being malicious if there’s something to be gained
You’re only an overcomer if you haven’t succumbed to inflicted pains
You ask the universe and only hear an echo
So many illusory choices make you feel hollow
You can’t comprehend an eternal infinite right without its flipside
Individuals get crucified but when a group is evil you close your eyes
And you’re still somehow magnificent with every forward step into the shadows of death
You’ll go to jail for thinking about dichotomies if there is whiskey on your breath
So many illusory choices make you feel hollow
You ask the universe and only hear an echo
Human empires fall because their operating models include a zoo
If you steal from others long enough you can be a king too
Monsters think of monsters because monsters want to rule
Eventually, concrete, the weeds will grow through
You ask the universe and only hear an echo
So many illusory choices make you feel hollow
The stories fill in the gaps and the stories change all the time
None of it is real or righteous so don’t bother losing your mind
Dance on the edge of darkness just don’t get caught committing the crimes
But if you do, do what they do and find a reason that rings true in a rhyme
