Fighting Fuzzy Slipper Battles

I used to say shit like

All I gotta do is

Stay Black

Pay taxes

And die

What I didn’t know

Is that mantra

Became a spell

A recipe

And a crutch

But fate isn’t up to me

That ain’t shit I gotta do

That’s shit I can’t do nothing about

I memorized the wrong list

And suffered for it nawl see

All I gotta do really

Is Stay Healthy

Pay Attention

And remain free

At least in these areas

Influencing is up to me
