I’m very aware of where I live- my country is a marketplace first and foremost and it’s bad for “business” to have people do too much thinking, reading, self reflection etc as profit margins are paramount. The problems we have here are compounded in other places and depending on where on earth, are even more severe for the marginalized. Human beings on the whole though are not very kind to one another in general behind whatever flags, gods, or invisible borders they cling to and this has been the way for 300,000 years already- we just started this civilization business about 12000 years ago and just keep getting crueler but a measly 12000 years – that is still no time- compared to how long our floating spaceship has been in existence Humans are still infantile; mere children crawling out of the sea, babies with newly opposable thumbs, primate’s emotions, and an individual lifespan just long enough to satiate hunger, replicate and turn into fertilizer. We aren’t the center of anything, more important than any other creature, or even the wisest beings in the universe and to top it off we live in a country built on bullets & backstabbing, whips and chains. The best we can do is support the other humans we can touch, share knowledge and kindness and art as far and wide as we can and hold hands till our time here ends. It’s not bad, It’s not good, it just is.
Having said all of that, there’s no perfect person for us- we are all difficult and extraordinary in our own ways. If you want to have a coffee sometime, say so. Name a time and place and we’ll figure it out. If not, fine, say that too so instead of waiting for days for a response on a dating app, we can move on to new rainbows. Nothing is guaranteed and there is no day but today. As the rapper Common would say, it doesn’t take a whole day to recognize sunshine. Will they be there for every sparkle of one’s short lifespan? Who knows? While we’re breathing though, there’s still more to learn and only so much time left, to love. Have a great day.
